Movie Review: Last Holiday (2006)

22:05

Hello everyone... kinda busy days lately. I gotta do some stuff and assignments, hell yeah college students. I really miss my blog. But I don't have any idea what to write about my activities, well, you might not be interested as well. So, I'm thinking about making a movie review, starred by famous black actress, one of my favorite stars, Queen Latifah.

Back then again, I watched this movie some years ago, I forgot where I watched this. Probably in HBO or Fox Family Movies (used to use the name Star Movies). I found myself to love this movie, absolutely hillarious yet interesting. Okay, without any longer blah blah blah from me, here is the review.

What would you do if suddenly you find yourself diagnosed with terminal disease, and only have three weeks to live?

This situation was exactly faced by Georgia Byrd, a shy and kind-hearted woman who was passionated in cooking. She worked as a sales clerk in the cooking department at Kragen's. This started when she unaccidentally hit her head while she was talking with her crush, a fellow worker named Sean Williams. She collapsed, and brought to Kragen's clinic. When Dr. R. Gupta, who was in charge that time, he was shocked to see the CAT scan result of Georgia. He and his fellow doctor told Georgia she only had three weeks to live.

Georgia was in big confusion and deeply depressed and devastated. She eventually chose to quit her job, blow away all her money she had saved, in order to actualize all her dreams and places she wished to visit. And this is when all her journey and the exclamation starts. She later was acquainted to some important people she never expected to meet. Mr. Matthew Kragen, her former boss who owned the big retail business chains, Kragen's. Other people she met were the congressman Bob, her senators named Dillings, and also beautiful woman who was a pity to look because she had an affair with Mr. Kragen, who was a married man.

Georgia then did many things she longed and wished to do, without her knowing that so many people were envious for her. Say, she stayed in a hotel's presidential suite room worth $4000 a night, she met and talked personally with Chef Didier, she ended up in a ski magazine's cover, and even won a gambling worth $100,000. Amazing huh? Unfortunately, there was a person who was very competitive, and thought that Georgia was a true enemy. It's Mr. Kragen. Mr. Kragen then did many ways to defeat her, but never won. When finally Mr. Kragen found out who Georgia really was, he thought he would won hands down against Georgia. But no, he wouldn't. What happened to him and Georgia next? You've gotta know by simply watching this movie.

Truth to be told, this movie plot is actually pretty easy to be guessed. But then again, it's very easy to understand, you don't have to think much. Honestly, you will be amused by some funny scenes, such as when Georgia were trying clothes and linen in a boutiqe; or maybe when Georgia found herself devastated in her church while still singing in the church choir, all people in church began to follow her depressed, melodious lamentation "Why?"

I must say, all actors and actresses in this movie are awesome. Queen Latifah did really good. Actor who played Mr. Kragen's role succeed in becoming a true villain. Georgia's former manager, Mr. Adamian, was such a big a**hole that you would imagine you're in Georgia's position. All hotel crews and workers have equal and did excellent roles. Costumes? Excellent. I admire the fashion stylists who did great job on Queen Latifah. And don't forget the background place of this movie, Grandhotel Pupp. Well, at first the name gave a smirk on my face, because.... WHAT? PUPP? Quite and pretty similar pronunciation with.... yeah you must know laa. Hahaha. Anyway, I thought this movie to be a little bit religious, because I found some parts where Georgia talked to God by looking at the sky or ceiling. Asides from that, the movie wants us to live our life to the fullest like there is no tomorrow. And keep a faith in yourself, because we don't know life can change 180 degree different from you used to have.

Overall, if you want to watch an easy, funny movie without thinking too much, I recommend to sit down on your couch, and hit this up on your TV. Okay, it's all. Ciao readers!
